Sir Richard Branson came to Dennis Conner's North Cove on Thursday, September 4th to announce the Virgin Money sponsorship of Speedboat. The press conference was held alongside the newly decorated yacht just before the crew went sailing with press in front of the skyline of Manhattan.
Soon "Virgin Money" (formerly "Speedboat") will attempt to break the Trans-Atlantic Record.
"Basically, we wait for a big hurricane," said Sir Branson. "Then we try to stay in front of it."
Branson will be bringing along his two children for this record attempt. About his son, who is currently kayaking near the North Pole to demonstrate the melting of the polar ice cap, Branson said, "Doing these adventures is more rewarding then partying all night." His daughter is training to be a doctor and after 6 years of hard work, this is one of her rewards.
Maybe Tropical Storm Hanna, which is currently tracking up the Eastern seaboard, will be the weather system needed to slingshot Virgin Money across the Atlantic Ocean to break the record.
